Ruaha is Tanzania’s biggest elephant sanctuary. Its name derives from the Great Ruaha River which flows along its eastern border, creating spectacular gorges. Flowing into the Rufiji River, the Great Ruaha is home to hippo and crocodile. Various antelope species, such as eland, grant’s gazelle, impala, greater and lesser kudu, reedbuck, waterbuck and the rare sable and roan antelope thrive in the grasslands bordering the river alongside buffalo, giraffe and zebra.

Located in the northeastern part of Tanzania, near the border with Kenya. Covering 3,500 sq kilometers, it is part of an ecosystem that includes the Tsavo National Park in Kenya. Mkomazi National Park its name derives from the Pare meaning rare water. Known for its diverse landscapes which include savannah, acacia woodlands and striking Usambara and Pare mountains ranges nearby.

Various antelope species, such as eland, grant’s gazelle, impala, greater and lesser kudu, reedbuck, waterbuck, the rare sable and roan antelope thrive in the grasslands bordering the river alongside buffalo, giraffe and zebra. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, both striped and spotted hyena. Moreover, the park is notably involved in conservation for endangered species, the African wild dog or African hunting dog as they should correctly be called, and the Black Rhinoceros.

The park is too often significant for its birdlife, boasting over 400 species, making it a great destination for bird enthusiasts whom will find themselves in paradise offering countless opportunities for birdwatching. With fewer tourists compared to other parks, Mkomazi provides a peaceful and intimate setting for your safari experience, offering more private for those who visit.

DAY 1

Babu's Camp

Meet at the agreed point by Wild Drama representative who will give you a short brief about your safari then transferred to Mkomazi National Park with Driver guide. Head for game viewing at the Park which is well-known for its rare Black Rhinocerous, roan antelope, and big herds of elephants. The park is still quite mysterious and has only just been developed for tourists makes it extra special.
DAY 2

Babu's Camp

Our recommendations are:

MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK - walking safari

The goal of this day is to depart the lodge with a picnic lunch for your full day game drive enjoying and exploring the landscape and scenery of this unique National park,

OR:

On this day you will be accompanied by an armed ranger for early morning walking safaris inside the park, and return to the lodge/camp for breakfast. Noon hours shall be set at your own leisure at the lodge. At about 1500hrs depart for evening sunset Game drive in the Park.
DAY 3

Our recommendations are:

Breakfast served at the lodge, then drive to the JRO for flight to Dar Es Salaam/Zanzibar

CLIMBING KILIMANJARO TREKKING TIPS:

General body physical training in prep for the trek is highly recommended. Consult your Doctor for check-ups and what you should bring in your personal first aid kit.
On an occasion of Acute Mountain Sickness and any other high altitude related sickness. It is obligatory to climb down. Our guides are well experiences to tell the symptoms and will advice you accordingly.
Report the following conditions to the Guide immediately; dizziness, sever headache, nose bleeding, vomiting, confusion, difficult breathing, blocked nostrils, lung crackles. A specialized Mt. Meru rescue team is always on stand-by to provide evacuation.

Trek conditions:

Muddy or mostly dusty in the forest region.Dusty, bare rocks, light and heavy scree on some parts to the summit, cold nights, windy and sunny sometimes cold daytime. Occasional light snowing above 4000m.
