WHO IS WILD?

Now in its 12th year, WILD (formerly Stages)
is a unique drama school for young people run by Wendy Izzard. While additional teachers
and guest tutors are employed from time to time, WILD'S success has been firmly due to
the personal approach with students and their families- something impossible to achieve
with large classes, prescribed programmes and franchised companies.
Principal, Wendy Izzard, established the company in January 1998 after
completing full-time tertiary studies in theatre. She has been resident
in Australia since October 2005, having emigrated from New Zealand.
Wendy has been active in all aspects of community theatre for over 20 years, including:
- acting
- musical theatre
- singing
- directing adults and youths - dramatic plays, musical theatre and comedy
- teaching children's theatre
- stage management
- production team and crew member
- promotion, marketing and public relations.
Professional theatre work has included acting, directing,
production and stage management in musical theatre and dramatic works,
including touring shows. She was chairperson of the Northland Youth
Theatre Trust (New Zealand's first Youth Theatre) for 5 years.
In addition to this, Wendy has been a primary/ intermediate school teacher for 13
years in New Zealand during which time she was heavily involved in teaching drama.
She was a Performing Arts specialist teacher before leaving New Zealand for Melbourne, Australia.
Now based in Geelong, Victoria, WiLD runs Drama Clubs in several schools in Melbourne and
Geelong as well as after school classes in Geelong.
Wendy has current Victorian Teacher Registration (including a police check).
